Champions of the Future is a UK-based, six-round national karting championship for nine to 16 year olds. It was started in 1996 by McLaren boss Ron Dennis, Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug and karting guru Martin Hines - the aim being to organise and promote a top-level karting championship that starts youngsters on a path to motorsport success. The series has a world-wide television audience and is covered by the British national and specialist motoring press. High-profile sponsors, including Mobil, Hot Wheels, Silverstone and Virgin Radio, have also lent their support to the series.

Champions of the Future is covered on British network television by channel 4. Estimated viewing figures for 2000 are 10 million.
